Vineyard and Viticulture:
Soil type: Schist. The vineyards are planted at an altitude of 350m, facing south and southwest. The vineyards are on average 40 years old. Integrated pest control and a sustainable viticultural approach is used. Grapes are hand harvested
After manual selection, the grapes are trodden using the traditional ‘pisa a pé’ method in ‘lagares’, granite presses. The wine then ferments in the lagar for 10 days at temperatures of 25-28ºC. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is filtered, matured in oak for 12 months and then for a further 12 months in bottle.
Oak: 100% 1 year old French & American oak.
Tasting Notes: Intense and deep, purple hues
Aroma: Ripe blueberry and black berry fruit, with spicy, smoky and mineral notes.
Palate: Rich, dense, full bodied, with black fruits and spice, firm tannins and a long finish
