Domaine Naturaliste, Discovery Series, Syrah, Margaret River

Tasting notes:

Margaret River Syrah is noteworthy because of its fragrance and attractiveness in it’s youth. Aromas of juicy black cherries and boysenberries with a grind of black pepper. The palate possesses a fine grained texture comprising of ripe tannin which adds to the structure and depth of the wine.  

Food matching: Veal | rich pasta dishes | lamb chops grilled on open flame

Variety: Syrah 96% | Malbec 4%

Maturation: In used 228L and 500L French oak for one year on fine lees. Mainly from the Allier and Voges forests.

Winemaking: Syrah is picked at moderate ripeness to retain elegance. Cool fermentation of whole berries at 20 to 22 oC creates a partial carbonic maceration which introduces a spice element to the pure Syrah perfume. A splash of Malbec introduces texture and fleshy tannins. A cool climate, medium bodied and balanced Syrah.
