Claymore, You'll Never Walk Alone, GSM, Clare Valley

Donna Stephens / Marnie Roberts

71% Grenache    24% Shiraz    5% Mataro

100% Clare Valley

Deep crimson.

Increased oak handling (15% new American) shows on the nose of this wine as appealing lifted  toast, complementing the natural dark cherry / satsuma plum fruit and spice of the Grenache.

Forward primary fruit welcomes the drinker in,  then fleshes out to a more savoury, mocha and spice mid palate. The tannins are integrated, soft and dusty in this medium weight red which leaves lingering spice and more of that black cherry on the finish.

Once again, this wine benefits from co- fermentation of the Grenache & Mataro parcels – both drawn from our dry-grown Penwortham vineyard. The Grenache & Mataro base blend was much richer than previous years allowing us to up the percentage of Shiraz in this release without compromising varietal definition.

We concentrate on making this wine as an immediately aealing drink-now’ style and the  is certainly easy on the alate here’s enough weight and structure to kee the serious’ red fans happy though – I like the idea of tex-mex pulled pork and bean burritos with this drop – serious flavours in a user friendly ackagearria
