The Tapiz Wines come from Fincas Patagonicas , one of the most technologically advanced wineries in Argentina and marries Argentina's best vineyards with winemaking expertise. Fincas Patagonicas vineyards are located in the Valle de Uco and Agrelo regions, province of Mendoza. Mt. Plata (6100 meters) and Tupungato volcano (6800 meters), overlook the state-of-the-art Fincas Patagónicas Winery providing a magnificent scenery.

The signature wine of Fincas Patagónicas is Malbec. One of the five Bordeaux blending grapes, Malbec has flourished in Argentina since the middle 1800s, producing intense wines of great value. Fincas Patagónicas’s Tapiz Malbec was recognized as the "Best overall Malbec" by Wine & Spirits in its annual buying guide for 2000 and the Malbec 2002 was listed as Best Value by Wine Spectator in 2004.

Fincas Patagónicas selects grapes from historic vineyards known as the first zone located in Agrelo, Tupungato, Ugarteche and Maipù, in Mendoza, the most important and extensive wine region from Argentina and one of the major wine regions of South America. In the year 2007, a new Farm in Cafayate, Salta, famous area for the excellent Torrrontés was incorporated.
